This is what I wish for you in your 20th year:
- Allow yourself to feel what you feel.
- Do not fear your own voice.
- Write your heart onto the page.
- Be active when it comes to moving your body and expressing your beliefs.
- Live every day with purpose.
Have a fulfilling year. Let Anna Quindlen’s words ring in your ears, “George Eliot wrote, ‘It is never too late to be what you might have been.’ It is never too early, either.”
Yeah, you may not agree with all her policies. Yeah, you can keep calling her crooked. But guess what?
She’s a bad ass.
She doesn’t care if people like her. She wants to get shit done. She always has and always will.
When Hillary first said the above quote, it was 1992. It was controversial because she showed that she wasn’t going to take a backseat in our male-dominated democracy.
Today, she doesn’t have to hide those words. They’re a platform for her campaign. A symbol of the progress she started 20 years ago. She was laying the groundwork for us ladies to accomplish whatever the hell we wanted before we were even born.
I am so proud that I got to vote for this nasty women.
So please go vote.
I was reading this lovely article on Cup of Jo, and it finished off with this question and answer with the author and interviewee:
Do you have an overall beauty philosophy?
“You’re prettier than you think. Everything in the world is beautiful, people are beautiful. You are the person that gets to experience yourself closest at hand, so enjoy it.”
I just thought it was such a nice sentiment and wanted to share 🙂
